It's also for science fiction fans. The description on the website, myouterspace.com, says the social network is to "create an arena for Sci-fi, Horror and Fantasy fans to display their talents." This project has been a labor of love for all involved; to create an arena for Sci-fi, Horror and Fantasy fans to display their talents, learn about the latest tools in technology, and interact in a unique online community that's out-of-this-world. Starting with the vision of Sammy Oriti; the guidance of William Shatner; the talents of Sci-Fi designers John Eaves, Douglas E. Graves, and Sean Scott; the music of film composer Richard Friedman; and the web expertise of Matt Willey; Myouterspace.com is now live!To join the site people have to choose one of six planets. The planets correspond to different types of media and talents including graphic design, writing, acting, music, games and movie/tv production. There is no charge to register on the website. William Shatner did a brief standup routing as he stood next to the wax version of his Star Trek character. He also said it was a "great honor" having the wax statue made. Only John Cho and Karl Urban give appropriate answers. The rest are horrifying. Also, J.J. Abrams explains the whole William Shatner debacle. The Shatner/Takei feud has taken on a life of its own. Bill Shatner has finally responds via video to George Takei's comments as to why he didn't invite Shatner to his wedding. Takei did invite other castmembers, such as Nichelle Nichols (Uhura) and Walter Koenig (Chekov). But Shatner says they were never close, he hasn't seen him in years and is puzzled why he would say these things. It's all most puzzling. Many people have said that Shatner was egocentric in his youth, but in all fairness George does seem a bit touchy in interviews, so who knows?
