Finding the Easter Eggs in the Star Trek Movie

Trekmovie.com has compiled a list of all the inside jokes, Easter eggs and other references in the J.J. Abrams Star Trek movie. R2D2 even made an appearance in the film -- which we totally missed.
R2-D2 LOCATION ANSWER (**SPOILER ALERT**)

During the Drill Machine sequence as the Enterprise comes out of its barrel role amidst destruction of the other Federation ships above Vulcan, we cut to an interior Enterprise bridge over the shoulder of Kirk that is looking out through the front viewscreen. In space, R2-D2 is floating in the debris from about the top middle of the screen to the bottom right.
See the rest of the list here. We did catch most of those, but not all.

Stormtroopers celebrate after the Death Star destroys the Enterprise in this clip created by Current. It ties in with the Star Trek vs Star Wars meme. We say there is room for both.

Leonard Nimoy Talks Star Trek Return

Leonard Nimoy visits with Al Roker of The Today Show to discuss his return as Spock in the new J.J. Abrams Star Trek film. He discusses the role and working with Zac Quinto, and then gets ambushed Spock uber-fan Ann Curry. She even caresses his ears. It's pretty funny. Take a look:

Zoe Saldana and Zachary Quinto Talk Star Trek

TV Guide talked to some of the stars of J.J. Abrams' upcoming Star Trek movie. In the clip Abrams says the film is "made for people who may know the series but it's really made for future fans of Star Trek not existing ones." Those comments by Abrams have been quoted in the media before. They really aren't going to placate Star Trek fans angered by what they saw in the Star Trek movie trailer. Actress Zoe Saldana - who plays Uhura - is someone who is very fired up by the trailer. She hadn't seen what it would look like until she saw the trailer as most of it was shot in front of a green screen. She was thrilled by what she saw. Take a look:

Star Trek Jingle Bells

CBS is at it again. To promote the DVD sets of the original Star Trek series, they've created another insane mashup. This time, it's the Trek characters punching buttons to play the song "Jingle Bells". No, of course it doesn't make any sense. Take a look:

New Star Trek Trailer Features Leonard Nimoy

Perhaps worried about the fan reaction to the original trailer, J.J. Abrams released a new trailer to Ain't It Cool News. This is similar to the first trailer, but Leonard Nimoy makes an appearance at the very end. He's been made up to look very old, but that distinctive voice is the same. Take a look:

Star Trek Goes IMAX

J.J. Abrams' Star Trek wasn't shot in IMAX format, but it will be converted into IMAX format so that fans can see the film in two versions when it is released in May, 2009.

The last film we saw in IMAX was Beowulf; that film really needs to be seen in IMAX to get the full effect.

New Star Trek Trailer is Here

The new trailer for Star Trek is out and it's intense. Some fans are furious at the changes to canon, such as Kirk being a daredevil in his youth whereas in the original series Kirk said he was "positively grim" when he was at the Academy: he was a real bookworm. Uhura takes off her shirt. Spock tries to kill Kirk, etc etc. We have seen every episode of every Star Trek show made and have seen all the movies. We say: wait and see. We'll not pass judgment until we see the finished product. That hits theaters in May, 2009. Here's the trailer:
