Principal Photography on Star Wars: Episode VII to Commence in May 2014

Disney and Lucasfilm have announced that principal photography will begin on Star Wars: Episode VII in May 2014. It will be based at London's Pinewood Studios. The release date in theaters has been set for December 18, 2015. The film will be directed by J.J. Abrams.

Lucasfilm released a list of the first day of principal photography for every previous installment of the Star Wars saga. Disney and Lucasfilm say the new episode is set 30 years after the events in Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi. No casting or plot details were revealed. Lucasfilm only says the movie will star "a trio of new young leads along with some very familiar faces."

The Hollywood Reporter says Adam Driver in is talks to play the villain. Other actors rumored to be in talks include Lupita Nyong'o, Jesse Plemons, Ed Speleers and John Boyega. There have also been rumors about many, many other actors over the past year. With the principal photography start date just two months off it shouldn't be too much longer before we start learning more about some of the actors and characters in the movie.
