Sleestaks: Mysterious Race in Land of the Lost ![]() The Sleestaks make in apperance in the upcoming film, Land of the Lost that is based on the 1970s tv series. Here's how Will Ferrell's character Dr. Rick Marshall describes the creatures in a postcard from Land of the Lost. "Sleestaks! We finally encountered the mysterious race. They look like lizards, have big, black eyes and a horn atop their head and, most importantly, like Sean Penn, they don't appreciate being photographed!"They look pretty similar to the Sleestaks from the tv show. ![]() Posted on May 27, 2009 Permalink | Subscribe | | | Comments (View) ![]() This is one of the most over-the-top monster movies ever. The film was originally supposed to star Jim Carrey and Ben Stiller and was about two no longer needed pleasure clones in a world run by women. Fox pulled the plug on the version. Hollywood Reporter says the new version of the film starring Ben Stiller and Reese Witherspoon will focus more on the relationship between the clone (Stiller) and the clone's owner (Witherspoon). The current take at Fox focuses more on the relationship between Stiller's character and Witherspoon's clone owner. Roach will remain a producer on the project along with Stiller's Red Hour Films. We hope this version is good. The Stiller-Carrey version sounded like it could have been funny. ![]() Will & Grace star Eric McCormack plays an astronomer possessed by an alien in the film, Alien Trespass. The movie spoofs science fiction movies from the 50s. McCormack talked to New York Magazine about what is was like playing Urp. I think my first instinct was to make him more alien, sounding like Mr. Spock, and [writer-director R.W. Goodwin] wanted more innocence — like a lilting, childlike inflection. So the image I used was that Urp is on another planet and has to steal a vehicle. And that vehicle happens to be my body. So the walk, the hands, the voice, and of course the erection that keeps happening, those were all just somebody trying to understand a machine that it needs to get around. Here's a trailer. It looks hilarious. Alien Trespass opened in limited theatres on April 3rd. They have a website called Weapons Against Robots which lists products and services to help you destroy robots. Only brief descriptions of these products and services appear to be available. A security camera turns and seems to look right at you as you click around on the website. The music that plays on the website doesn't really seem appropriate for a website that promises to help you annihilate killer robots. The Telegraph has an article about the company and the founder Ben Way sounds very serious. He thinks it is "critical that we begin talking now about the long-term ethical implications the robot revolution will surely bring".Scientists in Japan have already invented a robot maid so it's possible that deadly robots that would rather eliminate you than help with your laundry are not far way either. No, it's not a late April Fool's Joke. Keanu Reeves told
MTV that he heard someone is doing a remake of Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. Then he dropped the bomb: he's not adverse to making a sequel himself.
"I hear they're doing a remake," Reeves said of the movie that launched him to fame. "[Alex Winter and I spoke] on the phone the other day [about it]. We're great friends." So step into the phone booth, Mr. Reeves, would you ever be up for another sequel? What is this rumor of a remake? How dare they consider a remake without the original Wyld Stallions?? So, if they did a third movie in the series instead of a remake of the first film where would Bill and Ted be now? In rehab? Still touring, like the Rolling Stones? We're sure their lives are most excellent. Perhaps some time-traveling offspring could show up... got a full-season pickup. That means more Chuck as soon as the writers' strike is over. (Hey, they're back at the negotiating table -- we're hopeful.)
The writing on this show is just hilarious -- with lots of sf and fantasy references. In this screencap from the Halloween episode entitled "Chuck vs. the Sandworm" Chuck's pretend girlfriend and actual spy goes as Princess Leia the slavegirl, with excellent results. And what did Chuck go as? Why, the back end of a two-person sandworm of Dune. Brilliant! In other SF tv news, there are reports that Katee Sackhoff is off of The Bionic Woman -- that she and Michelle Ryan can't stand each other. As for The Bionic Woman, it's looking more likely that it won't be renewed because of its disappearing audience. Posted on November 26, 2007 Permalink | Subscribe | | | Comments (View) |
