Ian McKellen Says Hobbit Films Will Take 1 Year to Shoot

Gandalf Ian McKellen (Gandalf) has posted about the two Hobbit films. He says filming in New Zealand will take over a year and casting has started.
THE HOBBIT's, two films, start shooting in New Zealand, at a time to be announced. Filming will take over a year. Casting in Los Angeles, New York City and London has started. The script too proceeds. The first draft is crammed with old and new friends, again on a quest in Middle Earth.

The director Guillermo del Toro is now living in Wellington, close to the Jacksons' and the studio in Miramar.
MTV says McKellan's post said shooting would begin in June. It no longer says that. McKellan must have revised it to say, "at a time to be announced."
