Peter Jackson's Fourth Video Blog From the Set of The Hobbit: All About 3-D

Peter Jackson has uploaded the fourth Production Video from the set of The Hobbit. This production video goes into the technical aspects of shooting the film in 3-D and it's absolutely fascinating. The cameras used are the 3D Red Epic. Each of the cameras has a name so they can keep track of them; they are named after friends, family, pets and the Beatles. The movie is being shot at 48 frames per second which causes many challenges for the wardrobe department and the art department.

For example, red has to be oversaturated or on film it will look too yellow. Wigs must be made of human hair so they flow correctly in the wind. Even the concept art is in 3-D instead of 2-D, so Peter Jackson can see the storyboards in 3-D. The artists draw each drawing in red and in blue. Then you must wear special glasses to see the 3-D effect. Take a look:
